Where the two collide

Your the one I wished to confide,
The one I wish to sit beside,
Every moment of us being together,
makes the bond so much stronger.

It serves to bring us closer.
-Closer

Living it up

I remember your smile,
When the sunlight cast a glow,
Like a halo effect to you,
Was it an angel I saw?

I remember the friends I made.

As I looked across the horizon,
Where the ocean's bay glittered with gold,
Cast by the warmth and glow of each person I met,
The angels of my life.
-Angels of my life.

Can you remember the road less travelled? I bring myself back to the first post about my trip, where I laid there basking in the sun on that deck chair, of the sights I took in, the people I met, the places I saw.

Remember the elephant that I featured in one of the videos in the previous post? Here is the elephant as he walked past my favourite spot.

Until now, I havn't really shown some of the more real sights of thailand yet... Here are the pictures I took when I went cycling to the village near the resort.

A road less travelled...

A small hut selling vegetables and fruits.

Fresh from the farm!

A small shop/restaurant

The school in the village.

The scenery was lush and green with hills all around.

Let me intro to you another friend I met in Phuket, she's the reason why I got into the second indan wedding! =)

Pratna and me

Really smart lass who comes from dubai, as in waiting to start school in Boston. The second indian wedding had really good performers! Here is a performer with a fire baton, you can see the difference between the previous performers and this guy, this when experience and skill comes into play!

There was this thai dance, that looked like a fusion of thai and ballet!

Met so many interesting people there, and I was like literally the only chinese person there. Talk about standing out, I think I stuck out like a sore thumb, but I had lots of fun! The entertainment was great!

Aside from the 2 indian weddings, the happy hour pool bar, another fun place to go was the blue bar!

In my time there, I got to know quite a few fun people there. Let me tell you how it began... There was this particular young guy who was disc jockeying at the blue bar, whom I saw during the first wedding, but I never got to know him, he was also on the beach when I was with Yuna watching her friends playing with the baby elephant and tanning.

It was only a day after that, when I was sitting at my favourite spot of the beach and he was walking by and I decided to say hi. We got to know each other, and I found out he was the grandson of the owner of the cuban cigar brand Monte cristo... Before that, I've only smoked romeo and juliet, villiger and just during the trip... cohiba...(Which is way better that the first two) He recommended monte cristo which was apparently better (At first I was skeptical because I thought he might be biased...)

A picture of my almost finished, cohiba silgo 2.

So we spoke for awhile, his name was Miguel and I found he was from spain, studied in England, and he was in phuket for over 2 weeks now... (I'm so jealous that he can stay for so long!) In the end, he invited me to come to blue bar to see him DJ and have a drink.

That night, I met another DJ, TJ the DJ, a thai guy from bangkok who has been disc jockeying in the blue bar for over a year and a half. A really cool guy who loves to chill, and has been singapore to party a few times, I look forward to when he's in Singapore so I can go party with him!

Next, I met this interesting couple, whom I learnt alot from during my trip, Crispin and Tanya. The two are an interesting pair, both raised in Hong kong, Crispin in an English national who served in the british military and now is in charge of Bangkok airport security, a really fun guy who was really knowledgable about politics. Tanya, his wife was an eurasian chinese born in Hong kong and runs her own business, she's a very spirtiual person, and she's perhaps the first person I ever discussed spiritual topics in depth, we even did a book exchange, she gave me the book on the road less travelled and I gave her my favourite book the monk who sold a ferrari.

On my final night, I had quite a few whiskys and was really enjoying myself, and Crispin even bought for me a monte cristo which Miguel also recommended, and that was when I tasted the best cigar I've ever had in my life! Monte cristo was definitely a notch above cohiba, and here I was thinking cohiba was really good. Thank you Crispin for the introduction to the Monte cristo and also for paying for my whisky for that night and thank you Tanya for the book, perhaps we'lll meet soon enough, in Bangkok? =) I'd love to see your dogs sometime =D

Ah, this brings me to the last part of my post, here are a few photos of the most best sunset I saw throughout the trip. Thats it for Phuket! On to other things! Adieu to all!

The Road to Neverwhere

Stand tall and breathe deep,
Take in the sights and sounds,
Of the laughter and cheer,
Under the sun.

The wind breeze in your hair.

Think of the moments which you share,
With those that you would dare,
Making such fine pairs,
Where each lay it all bare.

We need to live with flair.
-Enjoying the moment

Sitting in the cafe, with my glasses and writing in my journal. I was taking in all the sights around me, the people, the designs, the activities.

Continuing from where I left off, after a long day at beach, at around 5 to 7 there is happy hour at the main pool bar! Talk about cocktails galore!

Here is a look at the main pool next to the bar.

Just before sunset.

As the sun is setting the look of the pool changes.

This is the bell above the pool, its my favorite of designs in the whole resort.

The fountain is connected to the pool too, and is in front of the Cafe, which was where I was when I was writing in my journal.

In front of the fountain... The cafe, with the pond in front looking a runway at night... lit by fire.

On my second day, there was a performance just before sunset in front of main lobby which was different from the normal days because it was the Thai Queen's birthday. Here is a picture and video of the performance.

Also, there were two indian weddings back to back during my stay. The first wedding, I met a group of performers there.

The party tent, in front my favourite bar... the blue bar! (I'll talk more about blue bar on my next post :P)

Here is on the performers playing with a fire baton.

Here is a video of them performing with the fire batons at the party!

The next day, we hung out at the beach, here is a photo of one the performers running away from a baby elephant!

Here is a video of the elephant. (I apologise for the scratchy sound as there was alot of wind)

Presenting my beach buddy! Yuna!

On the final night of the first wedding, there were fireworks for up to 4 minutes plus! Talk about extravagence...

Well thats it for this post... More in the later posts! I'll talk more about the second wedding and the blue bar along with my cycle to a village outside of the resort =) As for now, adieu to all!

Agent of chance

Choice is the possibilities given to us,
Where there is always a risk,
Its not an unbiased coin,
We are the agents of our chances.

We create our chances.
-Chance

As I laid there on that deck chair, with the sound of the sea before me, in the shade with a book to read, and journal to write in, I was at peace. This was my favourite spot.

Lets start from the beginning shall we? There I was on the train on the way to the airport, and for the first time, I was taking the mrt to the airport. I arrived early so I got myself a box of Cohiba siglo 2s! God bless Cuba! And off I was on my merry way to Phuket!

Looking outside my window, I was still in a little shock that here I was on my own again on an airplane, with little more than 40 passengers? Talk about space... AIR ASIA!

This is the marking on the seat in front of me.

Before long after an hours plane ride, a 15 minute taxi ride... I had arrived at my destination... Marriots Phuket...Checked in and headed to my Villa...

The path to the villa was so beautiful... And finally I was at my villa!

The rustic look, with two bed rooms, a kitchen and a living room, it was home for the next 4 days! Lets take a little tour around some of the places I found really nice...

The Back of my villa... A place where you can have barbecues... there was even a tanning bed there... So this is where the journey to the beach begins!

The yoga hut... built on the lake within the resort which is right outside my villa.

Taking a shortcut through... this lovely garden boardwalk...

Which leads me to a small stream with a rock connecting the paths!

One more shortcut!

It was windy all week, with clear blue skies... I had found myself in a paradise =)

And here was the beach, and the week had just started!

Just like this really long board walk by the beach... I still have so many things to talk about... many more pictures... videos... people I've met... functions I've been too... and many more! But I'd have to save it for another day. Adieu to all! =)
